| General Overview | Goran is tall and lanky but very nondescript; people often say that he reminds them of someone they know. He is a quiet person - very sparing with his words, extremely observant - has strong attention to detail and has a strong sense of duty and loyalty. He has the uncanny ability to move silently and can hide in plain sight, appearing where he is least expected and is often overlooked, a trait that has served him since his earliest days living in the Undercity of Coruscant. | |

| Personal History | Varris Goran was born in the undercity of Coruscant to unknown parents. At the age of 4, he was left at an undercity plaza and never saw his ‘family’ ever again. Having to scrounge or steal whatever could eat, surviving in the bowels of the Galactic Capital was extremely difficult. Goran learned early that he could trust and rely only on himself. He learned how to sneak and hide in plain sight, using any and all available cover and if none was available, he learned how to be ‘invisible’ in plain sight. He began his time with the Jedi when he tried to lift some credits out of a Jedi’s pocket. That Jedi, Sturn Ilvar, was a Master Sentinel tracking an Underworld boss. He was surprised at how strong in the Force Goran was and immediately took him before the Council to be accepted for training. The Council agreed and Goran became a Jedi Youngling that very day. He excelled at his lightsaber training and his ability to manipulate the Force at such a young age. After going through his Youngling training, at 10 he was chosen to be a Padawan Learner by none other than his ‘savior’, Master Ilvar. For the next 10 years, Goran served as Master Ilvar’s Padawan learning all that he taught about being a Sentinel Shadow and Investigator, hopping from planet to planet, doing whatever the Council ordered them to do. Then the Clone Wars hit and all Jedi were pressed into some kind of military service, assisting the Republic against the Separatists. It was during these years that Master Ilvar honed his Padawan’s lightsaber skills, teaching him the advanced ways of the Shien/Djem So form of combat. After three hard years at war, the Council officially named Goran a full fledged Jedi Knight after passing his trials, in 19 BBY. It was also at this time that Palpatine executed Order 66 and began the Jedi Purge. Goran was just about to leave on an assignment when Anakin Skywalker attacked the Jedi Temple with his Clone Army, the Imperial 501st. Master Ilvar ordered Goran to flee the temple and use all of the skills he had taught him to hide and stay alive so he could continue the Jedi Order with any fellow survivors. His Master entrusted him with the Jedi Sentinel Holocron started by Jedi Master Morrit Ch'gally, centuries before, encoded with the history of the Jedi Order and specifically with the Order of Sentinels and their many teachings and techniques. To this day, Goran has never used the holocron as he feels unworthy of such a grand and powerful legacy as a holocron keeper. For many years, Goran fled the Jedi Purge, always staying two or three steps ahead of the Imperial Inquisition, but he would strike out against them and the Empire as often as he could. He was very reluctant to join the Rebellion, seeing as he was hunted and he could not let the Sentinel Holocron fall into the hands of the Empire. So, he worked alone for several years and crossed paths with a few members of the Rebel Alliance who tried to recruit him several times, keeping his Jedi Heritage secret. It wasn't until just after the Battle of Yavin that he decided to do so, but he still has kept his past only to himself. |
